چکیده

A biofilm of Arthrobacter viscosus supported on granular activated carbon was used to remove chromium and organic compounds (chlorophenol, phenol and o-cresol) from aqueous solutions. The compounds were studied as single solutes and in different combinations between them and Cr(VI). Optimum Cr(VI) adsorption was observed at a phenol concentration of 100 mg/l and at an initial concentration of the metal of 60 mg/l. The maximum values of biosorption of organic compounds were 9.94 mg/g for phenol, 9.70 mg/g for chlorophenol and 13.99 mg/g for o-cresol. In terms of removal percentage, after 15 h of experiment, the affinity order was as follows: phenol > chlorophenol > o-cresol > chromium(VI). # 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Removal of chromium (VI) from aqueous solution by adsorption using cousinia eryngioides boiss and activated carbon

Adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) onto cousinia eryngioides boiss, activated carbon was investigated in a batch system by considering the effects of various parameters like contact time, initial concentration, pH, temperature, agitation speed, absorbent dose and particle size. Cr (VI) removal is pH dependent and found to be maximum at pH 2.0. The amounts of Cr (VI) adsorbed increased with increase...

Biosorption of Cr (VI) using a bacterial biofilm supported on granular activated carbon and on zeolite.

Two mini-columns partially filled with granular activated carbon (GAC) and/or a natural zeolite, covered by a bacterial biofilm of Arthrobacter viscosus, were used in a continuous flow system to remove Cr (VI) from solutions with initial concentration of 70mg/l and a working pH ranging between 4.5 and 5.5. Three different set-up's were used: two columns in series filled GAC covered with a biofi...

Removal of nickel and total chromium using Escherichia coli biofilm supported on clinoptilolite

-Biofilm is communities of microorganisms attached to the surface and is able to concentrate metal species within their cell structure. Therefore, the aim of this study was to produce Escherichia coli biofilm on zeolite (clinoptilolite) and evaluate its ability for nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) adsorption from aqueous solutions. A laboratory-scale batch model was used for biodsorption assay. Th...

Investigation of Cr(VI) Adsorption by Dried Brown Algae Sargassum sp. and Its Activated Carbon

In this research, the batch removal of toxic hexavalent chromium ions from wastewater and aqueous solution using dried (BD) Sargassum sp. (brown marine algae) and Activated Carbon (AC) prepared from it was examined. Biomass, pH and the initial concentration of Cr(VI), adsorption models and kinetic studies were investigated. The experiment was performed in a batch system and theeffe...

بررسی حذف کروم شش‌ظرفیتی از محلول‌های آبی با استفاده از کربن فعال گرانولی و پودری تولید‌شده از دانه اسپند

Background and Objectives: Because of toxical and hazardous properties of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)), its removal by an economical and efficient method is necessary. The use of activated carbon, as an adsorbent, is a common and effective method for hexavalent chromium removal. Thus the aim of this study was to produce granular and powdered activated carbon form Peganum Harmala and compare the...
